ABSTRACT

@#Objective This study proposes to visually review the current situation and progress of standards sets by the International Organization for Standardization/Technical Committee on Traditional Chinese Medicine (ISO/TC 249). The review aims to explore the development strategies of the standards, which will exhibit the considerable impact on the economy, trade and exchanges, and cooperation in the area of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). Methods ISO/TC 249 standards were searched on the ISO website, and their title, proposed time, current stage, scope, and classification were obtained for further summarization. Gephi was utilized to portray the co-occurrence network graph of the ISO/TC 249 standards subject. Results In ISO/TC 249, there were 116 standards, including 81 published standards and 35 developing standards by April 30, 2022. Two withdrawal standards were published after revision, which were not counted in the total standards. The number of published standards has been increasing since the first standard was published in 2014, whose title was “Sterile acupuncture needles for single use”. Among these standards, 17.24% (20/116) standards were in review, 56.03% (65/116) in publication, 3.45% (4/116) in approval, 5.17% (6/116) in enquiry, 3.45% (4/116) in committee, and 14.66% (17/116) in preparation, respectively. With 116 standards, most of the research focused on the medicament, as its classification of the International Classification for Standards (ICS) showed the proportion reaching 49.54%. The network analysis data revealed that the top five most frequent words were “materials” “root” “requirements” “products” and “system”, after removing the noise data, such as prepositions, conjunctions, and pronouns. Additionally, the word “system” co-exists with the terms “computerized” “coding” “image” “tongue” and “analysis”; the word “requirement” co-exists with “manufacturing” “decoction” “process” and “materials”; whereas the word “devices” co-exists with “pulse” “electric” “skin” and “measurement”. Conclusion With the increased diversification and complexity of problems, the development of standards is also oriented to multidisciplinary fields to cultivate the interdisciplinary talents, and especially the international standardization talents of compound TCM. Multi-angle analysis, formulation, and demonstration of standards, in line with industry needs in different disciplines, enhance the availability of standards and the ability to serve the industry.

ABSTRACT

@#Objective    To analyze the effect of 3D simulation technique in thoracoscopic lobectomy. Methods    From June 2015 to January 2018, 124 patients with left lower lobe resection underwent thoracoscopy with single-port thoracoscopic surgery, including 64 males and 60 females, aged 42–83 years. They were randomly divided into two groups including an experimental group (preoperatively given 3D simulation surgery in 59 patients) and a control group (preoperatively not given 3D simulation surgery in 65 patients). The clinical effect between the two groups was compared. Results    All patients recovered without any death during hospitalization. In the experimental group, the operation time, intraoperative blood loss and postoperative hospital stay were significantly less than those in the control group (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in postoperative drainage volume, and duration of drainage tube retention and analgesic drug usage between the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion    3D simulation technique for thoracoscopic lobectomy has advantage in short operation time, minor trauma and quick recovery. It has a guiding role in the preoperative planning of lung cancer surgery and is worthy of popularization and application.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#To understand literacy development of school-aged children of grade 2-5 and its influencing factors in Guangzhou, and to provide a reference for the reform of the teaching of Chinese subject.@*Methods@#By using cluster sampling method, 1 661 school-age children from grade 2 to grade 5 from 5 primary schools in Guangzhou were selected. The self-designed questionnaire was used to obtain demographic data of the participants. The Primary School Literacy Assessment Scale and the Pupil Rating Scale Revised Screening for Learning Disabilities was used to evaluate the literacy and the cognitive characteristics of participants.@*Results@#The average literacy of children of grade 2 to grade 5 in Guangzhou was as follows: grade 2 was (1 159±295), grade 3 was (1 919±394), grade 4 was (2 599±365), grade 5 was (2 947±303), higher than the norm(P<0.01). The average literacy of grade 2 students was lower than the national curriculum requirements while students of grade 3 to grade 5 met the requirements. Univariate analysis found differences in literacy among school-age children based on gender, reading experience before age 6, and parental education background (P<0.01). Multiple linear regression analysis revealed that grade (β=607.04), preschool reading experience (β=109.89), father’s education (β=27.14), language factor (β=27.21), social behavior (β=16.03) was positively correlated with literacy in boys (P<0.05). Grade (β=603.53), auditory comprehension and memory (β=29.39), language factor (β=16.74) was positively correlated with the literacy of girls (P<0.05), while time and orientation judgments were negatively correlated with the literacy of both boys (β=-18.95) and girls (β=-21.93) (P<0.05).@*Conclusion@#The literacy level of school-age children in grade 2 to 5 in Guangzhou has reached the national literacy requirements with students in grade 2 being relatively lower. Literacy is related to grade, preschool reading experience, father’s education, and child’s cognitive characteristics. Factors affecting literacy in boys and girls are different. Literacy education should vary according to gender.

ABSTRACT

Objective To compare the clinical effects of uniportal and triportal video-assisted thoracoscopic lobectomy in treatment of non-small cell lung cancer. Methods From January 2013 to November 2016, 141 non-small cell lung cancer patients underwent uniportal video-assisted thoracoscopic lobectomy (52 cases, uniportal group), and 89 lung cancer patients underwent triportal video-assisted thoracoscopic lobectomy (triportal group). All the cases were performed by the same surgeon. The operative time, intraoperative blood loss, lymph node dissection number, chest drainage duration, postoperative total drainage volume, hospital stay and postoperative complications were recorded and compared between the two groups. Results There were no statistical differences in lymph node dissection number, chest drainage duration, postoperative total drainage volume and postoperative complications after surgery between the uniportal group and the triportal group (P > 0.05). The mean operative time for the uniportal group and the triportal group was (196.1 ± 19.6) minutes and (162.7 ± 18.9) minutes, respectively, P = 0.000. The mean intraoperative blood loss for the uniportal group and the triportal group was (100.3 ± 13.6) ml and (176.5 ± 15.9) ml, respectively, P = 0.000. The hospital stay for the uniportal group and the triportal group was (7.5 ± 1.7) days and (9.2 ± 1.3) days, P = 0.000. Conclusion Uniportal video-assisted thoracoscopic lobectomy can achieve the same effect as triportal video-assisted thoracoscopic lobectomy, though it increased the operation time, however, it has the advantage of less surgical damage to chest wall muscles, intercostal nerves or blood vessels, shorten the postoperative hospital stay, and can be used as a safe and reliable radical surgery for non-small cell lung cancer.

ABSTRACT

Background: Intracranial abscesses are associated with high mortality. Staphylococcus aureus is one of the main pathogens that cause intracranial infection. Until now, there is no report to identify the key effectors of S. aureus during the intracranial infection. Methods: The murine intracranial abscesses model induced by S. aureus was constructed. The vital sign and survival rate of mice were observed to evaluate the infection. Histological examination was used to diagnose the pathological alterations of mouse tissues. The sensitivity of S. aureus to whole blood was evaluated by whole-blood killing assay. Results: In murine intracranial abscesses model, it was shown that the mortality caused by the accessory gene regulator (agr) locus deficient strain was significant decreased compared with its parent strain. Moreover, we found that RNAIII, the effector of agr system, was essential for the intracranial infection caused by S. aureus. In the further investigation, it was shown that restoration the expression of α-toxin in agr deficient strain could partially recover the mortality in the murine intracranial abscesses model. Conclusion: Our data suggested that the agr system of S. aureus is an important virulence determinant in the induction and mortality of intracranial abscesses in mice. .

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the relevant factors on the prognosis of sudden deafness. Method The clinical data of 133 patients (148 ears) with sudden deafness were analyzed retrospectively. Results Through systemic treatment, 25 cases got recovery, 18 cases were excellence and 39 cases were effective, the total effective rate was 61.7%(82/133). Univariate analysis showed that the factors related to the prognosis of sudden deafness were age, the time from onset to treatment, deafness classification, accompanied by vertigo or not and the duration of treatment. Patients with the age lower than 60, the earlier the time from onset to treatment, the lighter the deafness classification, not accompanied by vertigo and the longer duration of treatment got a better efficacy. Logistic regression analysis showed that the independent factors related to the prognosis of sudden deafness were the time from onset to treatment and deafness classification. Conclusion The etiology of sudden deafness is still unclear, the time from onset to treatment interval and the degree of hearing loss are the main factors affecting the prognosis of it, in clinic, it should be paid attention and took a early diagnosis and early treated so as to get good efficacy.
